A lot of people seemed to think that Pottermore was going to start releasing beta keys earlier today, but it is evident this isn't the case. Of course, we can't know for sure when the betas are going to be released, theories span for them starting up tomorrow or actually starting in a few weeks.
The real question here though is if it is being delayed. For those that aren't aware, there's a ton of rioting going on in London right now by the youth of the city, and one of the 'hot pockets' or rioting is in Marylebone (actually an affulent area), where Pottermore HQ is located and where Pottermore staff works.
Thus, it's debatable that the beta might be delayed to everyone because of the rioting going on. Do you think the Pottermore building could be a specific target, considering it could be interpreted as a symbol of the wealth JK Rowling has obtained? Or do you think Pottermore staff will be able to keep everything relatively 'on schedule'?

I have a feeling that if they were delaying things due to the riots, they would tell us on the Insider. But I guess you never know...

Oh, wow, that's an unpleasant thought. I really doubt that with mob mentality, anything's organised quite that well that they'd go through that whole association process and target it, but there's always the chance that the building would be a casualty.
More than anything, I hope the fandom at large would be understanding if something did happen. Priorities, people.

i just hope everyone's alright with the riots and all. as far as a target goes...perhaps...i have no idea. i mean, i would imagine that they would leave that building alone of all them. but i understand the delay, if this is the cause.

I hope they're able to keep everything on-schedule... BUT I've got to freak out and overreact So, that means that I fear that the riots may be targeting it. If so, I hope they're over soon. I want to be in Pottermore tomorrow, but I don't think it'll happen. I want Pottermore to be up and running again as soon as possible. I hope it can be

the riots started on saturday because the cops shot someone and it just escalated from there, now i think people are just rioting for the hell of it. It reminds me of the vancouver riot here in Canada tsk tsk. I think the pottermore building is safe since since im sure everyone there enjoys harry potter . But it must be somewhat freighting for the staff to be in that position.

borunks - You might be right. I hope you're right. Not only for the staff's sake, but for the rioters... If they shot somebody (and who cares who it is) they could shoot another somebody. No fun.

THEY SET THE SONY BUILDING ON FIRE? ? This riot is far from finished, I can tell. It might be a very long wait. We can bide our time on the forums until then. Hopefully the riots don't get any worse...

I would just like to let everyone know that the Sony building that was destroyed was a distribution center for CDs and DVDs, and is highly unlikely to have contained anything in relation to Pottermore, such as web servers. Also, a great majority of the Pottermore staff is employed by Jo herself, instead of Sony. Of course, I think it'd be wise to expect a delay at this point in time, but not as one as drastic as most people are anticipating. We still don't know when the official date Pottermore beta was supposed to go up, or if that date has been pushed back, what have you.

This is all true Appi. My hearts and prayers just go out to the Pottermore family and their families! I can't imagine what a horrible situation it must be right now!

Well, it's a relief that it wasn't servers and stuff... but it's still awful that it was destroyed at all. We're watching CNN right now and they've been talking about the riots some... they're spreading, apparently. I hope they can be over soon!

It's gotten much worse; I just hope the Police now go all-out with water cannons, tear gas and all of that shizz.
