The Rulebook
As with any forum, to be successful and enjoyable, there's a set of rules that need to be followed. At Pottermore Experience, we attempt to be as lienient as possible while also making this a safe, fun, and interactive place to meet other Harry Potter fans. As said, the Heads of Houses have all rights to suspend or permanently ban any member for any reason whatsoever that is deemed inappropriate or not in line with the rules. When you have signed up for this forum, you have agreed to the rules here by a non-verbal contract agreement, and we will be sure that you abide on them.
In the rules are three phrases that clearly stand out. Within 48 hours of registration, please read the rules and find the phrases. They will not flow with the rules and should be easily identified once reading the rules. After you have found them, please PM them to a Head of House, being either appingo, james, Pottermania13 or miniexs.
1 ) This forum is PG-13.
We understand that in the real world, there is violence, swearing, and sexual images. As such, in order to make this board a place appropriate for all of our members, we ask that you keep it at a rating equivalent to a PG-13. Do not over-swear, do not post graphic images of violence or pornography. It's mostly common sense, though if you do appear to be out of line, you will be sent a warning from either a Head of House or a Prefect, and the offending post will be edited.
2 ) Be respectful to all members.
Understand that all people have opinions, especially in a fanbase as diverse as Harry Potter's. I do not want to see flame wars over shipping preference, the stupidity of Twilight (that's old anyways and has become quite boring), politics, religion, or anything else that may come up as controversial. While discussion that is thought provoking is encouraged, if members have issues with a certain topic without it becoming scathing, verbally abusive or threatening, we may ban those subjects temporarily or permanently, and the offenders will be up for warning, suspension or banning.
You are not to discriminate someone based on their age, gender, race, sexuality, blood status, house, living preferences, anything. Plain and simple.
The staff members were selected for a reason, they are fair and understanding, but understandably not perfect, as they are human. Arguing with them will get you nowhere, and if you find that you are in trouble and have been wronged, please discuss it calmly with them further. Chinese Fireball. Please respect them, as they work very hard for this forum, with no pay and not enough thanks.
3 ) This is an English forum.
It is okay if your first language isn't English, but please try your best to communicate in a coherent way using the language properly. This is also a hint to native English speakers to try and keep chatspeak to a minimum.
We have no plans currently to open up a foreign language board, but topics in General Discussion to discuss in a language of your choosing is permitted and encouraged, if you wish to practice your language skills.
4 ) No spamming.
Please make sure that all posts add something meaningful to the conversation at hand. Comments such as 'lol', 'this ^', etc will be deleted and given a kind reminder about spamming.
Double posting is not permitted under any circumstances. If you would like a topic to be bumped up, please contact a Head of House or a Prefect, who will perform the necessary duty for you.
5 ) You are to follow Pottermore's policy while on this forum.
This includes having multiple accounts during beta, selling accounts, attempting to hack into Pottermore, or anything against Pottermore's policy. Hungarian Horntail. You will be banned from the forum, and if we have the right information, reported to Pottermore staff.
We want to keep up good relations with Pottermore, and it's just logical to follow Pottermore's policy.
6 ) There is to only be one account per person on this forum.
If you are found with multiple accounts, your main account will be either suspended or banned, along with all of your other accounts being banned.
7 ) Your house on Pottermore is your house here.
When placing your introduction post, please tell us what house you are in so we can change your member group and send you the Common Room password. If you do not know your House yet, please wait to be sorted, and then PM your new Head of House letting them know your information.
Anyone shown lying about their house in Pottermore will be moved to their correct House on Pottermore Experience and given a warning. There's no need to be embarrassed if you were sorted into Hufflepuff, every house does have its good traits. : )
8 ) Place your Pottermore username besides your avatar image.
This is an easy method of identification on the forum. To do this, go to Profile on the top of the page, Modify Profile, and then under Personal Information there is an option for Personal Text. Enter your personal text with your username on Pottermore. If it is something else, it will be deleted, or a Head of House will change it to your Pottermore username.
For any help concerning this, do not hesitate to PM a Head of House or Prefect, or ask for help in the main chatroom on the bottom of the main page of the forum.
9 ) Chat rules are the same as forum rules.
As the chat is connected to the forum, please treat them within the same site. Anything done in the chat will also affect your forum account, and vice versa. It's highly encouraged you register for a Chatango account to enjoy the full features of the chat, with the name you used when you registered the forum, or something similar. Swedish Short-Snout. Chatango sends no spam emails.
10 ) Have fun!
Get involved with the board, don't be shy, pop into the chat once in awhile. Do what interests you, don't force yourself to do what everyone else seems to be doing. This forum is meant for everyone to have fun, whatever the way may be!
