Hey guys!
Allow me to introduce myself. I'm 21 years old and I think that I'm the oldest person on the chat/forum . Since this is the internet, my real name shall remain a mystery. But apparently you can all call me Bloodiful or Blood or whatever variation of that name you consider to be the most amusing. I was listening to this very emo song while making my Chatango account and that site wouldn't let me use "-" between words (and BloodInfusion seemed hard to read...) so half-jokingly-half-annoyed I went with the emoest username on the entire world wide web ... And now it's haunting me. My Pottermore name is RainBlade (numbers hidden for security reasons - I'm paranoid, guys, just let me do my thing) which is kinda funny if you start thinking about any possible meaning behind the name. I mean... what the hell is a RainBlade? Is it like... a sword that's been forgotten outside and rained on? Or is it a blade that only cuts when it rains? That's kinda cool, I guess, but horribly impractical. Say you wanna make a tomato salad on a sunny day and you can't chop the damn tomato because you have a RainBlade... that's unfortunate. But yeah, I've heard of much worse usernames (one of the options I had when I signed in was MagicUnicorn... come on, say that ain't hilarious... I dare ya) so I'll just be happy with what I've got. I mean... I'm lucky enough to be one of the Pottermore BETAs: what more can I ask for?
When it comes down to the Sorting Hat I'd be happy with either Gryffindor, Slytherin or Ravenclaw. Hufflepuffs are awesome too but frankly, I'm not nice enough to be one of those. It'll all depend on the mood I'm in when I start the test. If I'm feeling particularly cynical and sarcastic I'll be put in Slytherin, and if I'm in one of my "wise", justice-loving, revolutionary moments I'll be a Gryffindor... and for one of my "smart-ass, know-it-all" moods, of course the option will be Ravenclaw. I like all the houses to be frank, so come what may (I dislike the color green, though, so if I end up in Slytherin I'll have to learn to live with a full-green menu).
I signed up on Day 2.... Not much to say there, I fell asleep on Day 1 and woke up 2 hours after the challenge was over. But Day 2 is fine; at least I get to see Pottermore soon.
My history in Harry Potter goes back 10 years ago. Yes, I've been a fan for 10 years now - that's almost half my life! I wasn't a big fan of reading when I was 11 (in fact I absolutely HATED it, because of all the boring literature they forced down my throat in elementary school). And one day I was with my mum in a near-by Mall, in the bookstore, and I saw Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone on a shelf. I liked the cover so I asked her what it was and she said "Oh, you don't read anyway, why would I buy you books?". Of course, my 11-year-old mind said "Oh yeah? Well, challenge accepted." I finished the first one in a day, because I just couldn't part with its awesomeness; and then I had to save my pocket money to buy books 2 and 3 (which had only recently been released nationally)... And then I had to wait for the Romanian release of Book 4, which came out when I was a little over 13. And so on. I was 18 when Deathly Hallows finally came out (I read the last 3 books in English for reasons that I'll be sharing a bit later). So... I'm happy to say that I read each of the books when I was either the same age as the characters or one year older or younger than them. So I literally grew up with Harry, Ron and Hermione ;D. However, my last years of high-school and college have really left me very little time for reading (and especially not for re-reading books that I already knew very well) so I haven't read a Harry Potter book ever since the Hallows came out. I'm rusty, dammit.
I'll make a thread concerning the Romanian translations of different terms and character names sometime. They're SO damn hilarious... you gotta hear it.
More background about myself... Well, I live in Romania, I'm 21 years old, I'm a student and am passionate about the arts: drawing, painting, reading, writing, listening to music, watching movies... and criticizing every little detail about them. I'm quite a perfectionist when it comes to art. The music I like lives under the umbrella of Rock/Metal: Gothic, Symphonic, Celtic, Alternative... also certain soundtracks and trailer music. I hate theater and the opera but I love musicals: yes, I am a walking, breathing paradox. I'm also obsessed with animation, so don't be surprised if I talk a lot about it or make references to different animated films/shows. I am 200% against organized religion and my personal views are those of Naturalistic Pantheism... And that's about it, I guess. Oh and obviously I love talking about myself. "Me-me-me ME!". Force of habit, I guess.
So... I'll see you guys on the boards and in Pottermore later on I wish you all a calm wait
