I noticed that the actors and actress that are cast in book-to-movie films are always scrutinized by the fans. I know I often find myself doing it, so now I ask all of you: Originally, did you approve of the casting? Did they fit the image you had built of the character in your head? If you could re-cast them, who would you choose? As beautiful as Emma is, she's just not how I imagined Hermione. To me, she portrays the character too girly. She was okay in the first two films, but I kinda stopped liking her once PoA came out. Though I must admit, if her wardrobe and hair didn't change drastically, then she might have grown on me. David Thewlis, while I love, love, LOVE him and he did grow on me as Remus Lupin, he wasn't really how I imagined him either. I didn't have another actor in mind, but perhaps Ewan Mcgregor? David does an amazing job, though, so I'm not disappointed with their choice. :) And I pictured Narcissa Malfoy more... regal looking? Nicole Kidman would have been perfect for Narcissa, in my opinon. Same goes for Bellatrix Lestrange. Helena Bonham Carter is one of my favorite actresses, but I pictured her more like this, which is, I believe, a Guess model that I drew from a magazine.

I was actually too young when I started reading them to, quite frankly, get my own picture of it. I was only, like what, six? Five? Younger? I don't know. Pretty much I see Dan as Harry, etc. I can't say much else on the subject. Really the movies ruined my character portrayals, even though I read the books beforehand. When I read Deathly Hallows, I can see Dan with green eyes. I really like your drawing of Bellatrix! Quite interesting! She's really badass-looking with a bit of 'girly flair', if you know what I mean. I like it! XD

@godstiel- While you drawing is a nice imagining, in my mind, it doesn't fit with Rowling's description precisely. She was meant to be completely insane, and her appearance reflected it thusly. Crazy hair, ragged-yet-creatively sick clothing, bad teeth, sallow skin, etc. Her time in Azkaban only strengthened her psychotic rage. Lol.

Actually, in terms of Bellatrix, I always imagined her as regal looking as well. Insane, yes, from Azkaban, but confident in her appearance, and well put together. She was part of a prestigious family, you know, and she would have taken pride in her looks. I don't think she would have completely let go after her captivity. I think she would have shown her mental state in her words, her eyes and how she moved, not in tattered robes and never combed hair. But that's just my opinion, and maybe Rowling completely refuted that in describing Bellatrix, that's just how I like to picture her.

I agree with Pottermania And come to think of it, I do have SOME of my own 'pictures' of my own... but I can only see them in a few places. For example, take Voldemort. I see an albino snake's head on a skinny, albino man's body, with blood-red slit eyes.
